The UQ Young Achievers Program was established in 2009. It aims to support the tertiary study and career aspirations of senior secondary students who might not otherwise have access to university as a post-school option.

How To Apply
- There are a number of criteria for participants in the UQ Young Achievers Program. Access the relevant University of Queensland website for details.
Eligibility Criteria – Resident at St John’s College
- A participant must be a full-time, undergraduate student of The University of Queensland or have been offered a place at The University of Queensland
- A participant must remain a full-time student at The University of Queensland for the period of the award
- A participant must be a resident at St John’s College for the academic year in which the award is received
- A recipient must make satisfactory progress towards the completion of her/his degree program
- A recipient must contribute the balance of the College fees
- A potential UQ Young Achiever is nominated in Year 10 by their School Principal
- The selection of UQ Young Achievers is carried out by a panel of University of Queensland Staff and Program Donors
- The Program provides a number of benefits to participants. For full details, access the relevant University of Queensland website
- A participant in the UQ Young Achievers Program can obtain scholarship support of $6,000 per year over four years as a full-time student at The University of Queensland
- Up to $3,000 per year of that scholarship may be accessed as residential support at St John’s College
- A participant seeking to access residential support at St John’s College must make an application for residence at the College
- A participant who is a accepted into St John’s College can obtain remission of College fees of up to $3,000 over two semesters of one academic year
- The $3,000 College component of the scholarship will be reviewed annually and, provided a recipient remains in the UQ Young Achievers Program, it may be renewed
