Season’s greetings to you and your loved ones!
For almost a decade now, there has been an ongoing discussion at the Old Johnians’ Association’s (OJA) Annual General Meetings (AGM) as to what the OJA is going to do with the funds that it has under management, particularly given the low earnings that are being generated in the current low-interest environment.
At this year’s AGM, the members agreed that at the next meeting, members would consider a proposal for the transfer of the funds from the current cash management structure into the externally managed structure that has been established by the Foundation.
A sub-committee has been appointed to prepare a proposal for the transfer and ongoing management of the funds on behalf of the OJA, and to identify the uses to which earnings on the funds can be applied in accordance with the objectives of the OJA.
The sub-committee will circulate a proposal for consideration to all members prior to the next AGM.
This is a truly exciting chance for the OJA to make a positive contribution to the College, and I look forward to sharing the proposal and debating potential opportunities at the 2018 meeting.
I wish you a wonderful Christmas and hope that you have a joyous 2018.
