This award was established by an endowed gift from Alumnus Mr Keith Bennett, BE (1966) and Annette Bennett. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist educationally and financially disadvantaged students who are enrolled in the second year of Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program to continuing residing at St John’s College. A preference will be given to a student studying in any field of engineering in the vivil engineering discipline.

Eligibility
  • A recipient must be a full-time domestic student at The University of Queensland
  • A recipient must be enrolled in an approved Bachelor of Engineering program with preference given to a student studying in any field of engineering in the civil engineering discipline
  • A recipient must be a resident of St John’s College at The University of Queensland
  • A recipient must apply for the scholarship using the appropriate University of Queensland form
  • A recipient must show need while demonstrating considerable academic merit and potential to succeed based on: academic achievement in the undergraduate engineering program to date; personal qualities, including leadership potential; community service and engagement; financial need; and qualities relevant to success in the engineering profession
  • A recipient must not hold any scholarship the Associate Dean of Engineering considers similar
  • A recipient must remain in residence at St John’s College for the period for which the award is received
  • A recipient must remain a full time student and remain enrolled in an approved program
  • A recipient must make satisfactory progress towards the completion of her/his degree program by maintaining a GPA of 4 for each semester of study and passing all courses in which s/he is enrolled
  • A recipient must contribute the any balance of her/his College fees
About The Awards
  • This award is offered annually
  • It is available to a domestic student in the second year of a Bachelor of Engineering program at The University of Queensland with preference given to a student studying in any field of engineering in the civil engineering discipline
  • It is offered to a recipient on the basis of educational and financial disadvantage
  • A recipient must demonstrate considerable merit and potential to succeed
  • The amount of the award will be equal to one third of the income of the fund
  • The amount is offered as remission of College fees
  • A number of awards may be made in any year
  • A recipient may hold the scholarship for up to three years
