The Academic Entrance Scholarships are awarded annually to new students commencing their undergraduate studies and residing at St John’s College. They are awarded to students who can demonstrate both academic excellence and the capacity to contribute positively to the College community in some way (e.g. in leadership, cultural or sporting capacities).

Award Value:
$6,000 – $8,000 ($3,000 – $4,000/Semester)

Eligibility
  • A recipient must have demonstrated academic excellence in her/his secondary level studies or previous studies
  • A recipient must be able to demonstrate the capacity to contribute positively to the College community in some way
  • A recipient must be about to commence as a full-time, undergraduate student of a recognised university, including: The University of Queensland, QUT and the Conservatorium of Music
  • A recipient must be undertaking his/her first undergraduate degree program
  • A recipient must remain a full-time student at his/her university and reside at St John’s College for the period of the award
  • A recipient must make satisfactory progress towards the completion of her/his degree program
  • A recipient must contribute the balance of the College fees
About The Awards
  • This award is offered annually
  • Up to four awards are offered each year
  • It is provided to commencing students who can demonstrate both academic excellence and capacity to contribute positively to the College community
  • The amount of the award is currently between $6,000 and $8,000 per recipient which is above the 15% of base accommodation fees
  • It is offered as remission of fees over two semesters of one academic year
  • The award is for a period of one academic year only
How To Apply

Recipients are offered the award by the Warden on the basis of their secondary or previous academic results and their capacity to contribute to the College community. Students are not required to apply for the award. These awards sit within the discretionary remit of the Warden and, subject to conditions, may be offered prior to the annual (January) dispersal of awards to new students.
