In 2019, the Foundation created five additional bursaries to support resident students in financial need.

Award Value:
25% of base accommodation fees per recipient p.a.
Example: if base accommodation fees are $22,000 p.a. – 10% = $2,200, 15% = $3,300, 25% = $5,500 (subject to change annually)

Duration:
1 year

1st September (for awards to be held the following year)

APPLICATIONS CLOSE:
Continuing/Returning Students: 4.00pm, Friday 29th November 2019
New/First Year Students: 4.00pm, Friday 17th January 2020

Eligibility
  • A recipient must be able to demonstrate financial difficulties associated with attendance at his/her university.
  • A recipient must be a full-time, undergraduate student or have been offered a place at a recognised university, including:  The University of Queensland, QUT and the Conservatorium of Music
  • A recipient must remain a full-time student at her/his university for the period of the award
  • A recipient must have been accepted into St John’s College and must be a resident of the College for the period of the award
  • A recipient must remain a full time student at The University of Queensland for the period of the award
  • A recipient must make satisfactory progress towards the completion of her/his degree program
  • A recipient must contribute the balance of the College fees
About The Awards
  • These awards are offered annually
  • Up to five awards may be made in any one year
  • Awards are offered on the basis of demonstrated financial difficulties associated with attending a recognised university, including:  The University of Queensland, QUT and the Conservatorium of Music
  • The amount is offered as remission of College fees over two semesters of one academic year
  • The award will be reviewed annually and provided a recipient continues to be able to demonstrate financial hardship, it may be renewed
